1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and UnProton Labs. ("UnProton Labs", "we", "us", or "our") governing your access to and use of the PDFStamper browser extension and any associated pages and services (collectively, the "Service"). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to that organization.
2. Definitions
- "Extension" means the PDFStamper browser extension in any supported browser.
- "Content" means any documents, files, text, images, signatures, QR data, or other material you open, create, or process with the Service.
- "Output" means a stamped, exported PDF or recipe file produced by the Service on your device.
- "Local processing" means computation that takes place entirely within your browser on your device, without transmission to our servers.
3. The service
PDFStamper is a local-first utility that lets you add text stamps, image stamps, QR codes, signatures, date stamps, watermarks, Bates numbering, templates and related markings to PDF documents. The Service performs its core functions through local processing: your documents and the stamps you apply are handled on your device and are not uploaded to UnProton Labs.
The Service is provided for lawful document-marking purposes. It is a software tool and does not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice, and the use of a stamp (including signature or "APPROVED" stamps) does not by itself create, certify, or guarantee the legal validity of any document.
4. License to use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, UnProton Labs grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the Extension for your personal or internal business purposes.
Except as expressly permitted, you may not: (a) copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law; (c) rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially redistribute the Service; (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices; or (e) use the Service to build a competing product.
5. Price and no paid tier
PDFStamper is offered free of charge. There is no subscription, no paid tier, no in-app purchase, and no account requirement to access its features. Because there is no fee, there is nothing to refund; any separate refund policy applies only to other UnProton Labs products that are sold. We reserve the right to introduce optional paid features in the future, but if we do, we will not retroactively charge for functionality you already use under these Terms, and any paid feature will be clearly identified before purchase.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Create forged, fraudulent, deceptive, or unauthorized documents, signatures, seals, certifications, or markings;
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
- Apply stamps to documents you do not have the right to modify, or in violation of any contract, court order, or law;
- Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party;
- Violate any applicable law or regulation, including those governing electronic signatures, evidence, or records;
- Attempt to disrupt, compromise, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems.
You are solely responsible for the documents you create and how you use them. The availability of features such as signature, date, "APPROVED", or Bates stamps does not authorize any particular use of them.
7. Your documents and content
You retain all rights to your Content and Output. Because the Service uses local processing, UnProton Labs does not receive, access, store, or claim any ownership or license over your documents or the stamps you create. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups; uninstalling the Extension or clearing browser data may permanently delete locally stored templates, recipes, and sessions.
You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to the Content you process and that your use of the Service complies with these Terms and applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, user interface, logos, and the names "PDFStamper" and "UnProton Labs", is owned by UnProton Labs and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you no rights to our trademarks or branding except as necessary to use the Service as intended. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
9. Third-party services
The Service is distributed through third-party platforms (such as the Chrome Web Store) and may rely on your browser's capabilities. Your use of those platforms and your browser is governed by their respective terms and policies. UnProton Labs is not responsible for third-party services, and their inclusion does not imply endorsement.
10. Updates and availability
We may release updates, modify, add, or remove features, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, with or without notice. Your browser or distribution platform may install updates automatically. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser, version, or document.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. UnProton Labs does not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that Output will be accurate, complete, or legally sufficient for any purpose, or that defects will be corrected. You use the Service at your own risk and are responsible for verifying any Output before relying on it.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL UnProton Labs OR ITS PRINCIPALS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR DOCUMENTS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, TO THE EXTENT ANY LIABILITY IS NOT OTHERWISE EXCLUDED, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF UnProton Labs ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM (WHICH IS ZERO FOR THE FREE SERVICE), WHICHEVER IS GREATER. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless UnProton Labs from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your Content or Output; (b) your use or misuse of the Service; or (c) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law or third-party right.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the Extension. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or your license under these Terms, at any time if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at UnProton Labs' principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise. You agree to resolve disputes first by contacting us in good faith at support@unproton.com. Where permitted, the courts of UnProton Labs' principal jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not resolved informally.
16. Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service.
